SUMMARY
We are seeking a Patient Care Tech to join our team. This position works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, participating in the delivery of care to patients in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry, and Critical Care Units. The Patient Care Technician is responsible for promoting good public relations and maintaining a professional attitude towards co-workers, patients, visitors, and physicians. Responsibilities include providing patient care, performing job functions in compliance with hospital policies, and complying with emergency, infection control, and universal precautions procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides courteous service to patients, visitors, staff, physicians, and other internal/external customers.
- Accepts or responds to changes in a manner that supports departmental and hospital goals and objectives.
- Maintains the desk as needed, including order entry, charges, ordering supplies, and telephone etiquette.
- Transports patients, lab specimens, and other items as assigned.
- Follows established emergency, infection control, and universal precautions procedures as required.
- Promptly responds to the needs of patients.
- Demonstrates the ability to manage patients of all ages or those with special needs.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as outlined in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps up-to-date on relevant federal, state, and hospital regulations, laws, and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED required.
- CNA, EMT-B, EMT-P, or PCT Certification required.
- 6 months or more experience in Medical, Surgical, Telemetry, and Critical Care related fields.
- Current CPR certification.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact with patients and healthcare team members.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.

- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Use of fine motor skills for handling, feeling, or reaching.
- Normal or corrected vision, hearing, and ability to speak.
- Close vision, sharp eye focus, and color differentiation.
- Periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure in various problem-solving situations.
