Responsibilities
- Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Answering patient call lights, answering phones, assisting visitors, performing purposeful hourly rounding.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learning patient safe handling skills, assisting in the ambulation of patients, and transferring, lifting, and repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
- Basic Nursing Care / ADLs: Providing basic care including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, using bedpan or urinal, positioning, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, etc., under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
- Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Performing procedures such as urinary catheter removal, ECGs, wound care, and dressing changes under the direction of the nurse.
- Procedures and Treatments: Completing and documenting patient care activities including ADLs, vital signs, weights, intake & output, and calorie counts, and accurately performing point of care patient blood sugar testing.
- Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remaining with a patient as a means to keep the patient safe.
- Department Specific Tasks: Supporting the nursing team by performing indirect patient care activities such as restocking equipment/linens, cleaning equipment, answering and relaying telephone calls, filing and maintaining records, retrieving and delivering supplies, specimens, instruments, test results, etc.
Requirements
- Minimum Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred; completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
- Minimum Licensure Requirements: Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association.
- Experience Details: No Experience Required.
- Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions; demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families.
