Responsibilities

  • Patient & Visitor Interactions / Customer Service / Hourly Rounding: Answer patient call lights, answer phones, assist visitors, perform purposeful hourly rounding.
  • Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Learn patient safe handling skills, assist in ambulation, assist in transferring, lifting, and repositioning patients using Safe Patient Handling equipment.
  • Basic Nursing Care / ADLs: Provide basic care including bathing, grooming, oral care, eating, feeding, using bedpan or urinal, answering and responding to patient call lights, bed making, under the supervision of a RN/LPN.
  • Patient Safe Handling / Ambulation / Repositioning: Assist with room set up, patient discharge, and transfers, provide patient/family orientation, transport and escort patients.
  • Procedures and Treatments: Complete and document patient care activities, explain and perform procedures, notify appropriate personnel, collect non-sterile specimens, perform point of care patient blood sugar testing, promote and maintain skin integrity.
  • Care Companion / Sitter / Observer: Remain with a patient as a means to keep the patient safe.
  • Department Specific Tasks: Support the nursing team by performing indirect patient care activities such as restocking equipment/linens, cleaning equipment, answering and relaying telephone calls, filing and maintaining records, retrieving and delivering supplies, specimens, instruments, test results.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education Requirements: Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course preferred, completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing preferred.
  • Minimum Licensure Requirements: Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by either American Heart Association.
  • Minimum Work Experience: No Experience Required.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions, demonstrates concern for and commitment to the welfare of our patient and families.
