About the role
Are you looking to build your skills and gain valuable hands-on experience? Our 12-bed cardiac unit provides specialized care for patients with complex cardiovascular needs in a close-knit, team-focused environment. As a Patient Care Technician (PCT), your responsibilities will include patient rounding, assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), and supporting nurses with bedside procedures, along with other essential duties. Make a meaningful impact in the lives of cardiac patients by being part of a dedicated care team.
Responsibilities
- Provide patient care, support the admissions and discharge process, and comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the professional nurse.
- Observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report any change to the nurse.
Requirements
- American Health Associate BLS Certification required within 90 days of hire.
- One year of prior health care experience preferred.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must have one of the following:
- Sentara Care Partner Certification Program,
- Successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA),
- National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA),
- National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT),
- Completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School,
- Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic,
- Current student enrolled in a clinical program (beyond prerequisites) having completed at least one semester of RN, LPN, RT or PT,
- Current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
