Patient Care Technician
About the role
Assist in providing therapeutic activities and support to patients under the direction of the Therapeutic Program Director. The Activity Aide observes and influences the patient’s behavior and communication while interacting with them as well as garnering their trust. Encourage patients to participate in social, recreational, and other therapeutic activities that enhance interpersonal skills and develop social and therapeutic relationships.
Responsibilities
- Observe and influence patient behavior and communication
- Encourage participation in therapeutic activities
- Supervise/monitor patients to and from treatment areas and in special care areas
- Absorb and implement therapeutic treatment plans and activities as assigned
- Act as liaison between mall services staff and the treatment teams
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment
- Document patient participation in activities accurately
- Follow safety protocols and procedures
- Complete assigned reports/documentation
- Participate in maintenance of a clean, orderly, and safe environment
- Report need for repair to Maintenance
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures to ensure the well-being of patients and staff
- Mandatory overtime is an essential function of this position
Requirements
Good communication and documentation skills are required for this position.

This position is eligible for an appointment incentive of $5000.00 to the selected applicant who agrees to work for the facility for a minimum period of twelve (12) months.

Through ongoing collaboration with West Virginia University’s Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry, a variety of medical and clinical professionals partner with the hospital’s own staff to work diligently with patients to achieve a smooth transition back to the community after discharge.
