Patient Care Technician

Primary Position Responsibilities

• Affords assistance with total patient care under the direction of the RN
• Promotes Patient Safety
• Promotes and supports an organized work environment
• Performs collection of blood specimens and EKG’s as ordered by the physician
• Performs general office/clerical functions on the nursing units
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Reports To: Director

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent
• Preferred: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program
• Required: Minimum Years of Experience: Previous hospital experience as a nursing assistant or physician office experience
• Preferred: Phlebotomy experience
• Required: License, Registry or Certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required or prior experience as a nursing assistant in an acute care setting
• CPR certification is required
• Crisis prevention Training (CPI) is required and must be renewed annually
• If not certified upon hire must obtain certification within 6 months
• CPI Course will be provided by Hunterdon

Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities

• Normal basic patient care equipment, wheelchairs and stretchers
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
