Patient Care Technician - 11 West Unit - FT

Job Description

This position is full time, working day shift with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

Job Scope

• Supports multiple nursing units.
• Interacts with unit staff, patients, physicians, families, visitors, management, ancillary departments, and the general public.
• Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality.
• May be required to support multiple nursing units.
• Functions as a key member of the health care team and performs tasks as delegated by licensed staff.
• Communicates effectively with unit staff, patients, physicians, families, visitors, management, ancillary departments, and the general public.
• Maintains patient, staff and customer confidentiality.
• Follows set guidelines and procedures in the execution of daily tasks.
• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development.
• Observes and documents data reflective of the patients’ status.
• Interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his or her age and specific needs.
• Provides the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
• May be required to sit with patients on suicide precautions or confusion.
• May be exposed to infectious diseases, biohazardous materials and combative patients.
• Physical requirements include lifting, prolonged periods of standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking.
• Work is performed in patient care environment and is often fast-paced, requiring use of prioritization skills.
• Compliance: Follows set guidelines and procedures in the execution of daily tasks.
• Work is reviewed by others to ensure compliance goals are met.
• May be required to work at multiple Carilion facilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent education required.
• Previous experience in direct patient care preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant preferred.
• If working in a critical access facility, a Certified Nursing Assistant is required.
• AHA BLS-HCP required within 6 months of hire.

Pay

The starting salary range for this position is $17.39 - $24.35 per hour.
