About the role
The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care considering age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. They assist in establishing and maintaining a patient care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient/family wellbeing, including concepts of relationship-based care.
This fast-paced, dynamic 32-bed unit specializes in high-acuity surgical patients requiring frequent monitoring, multiple lines/tubes, and complex nursing care. Specialties include Core Surgical Services, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Trauma, and Plastic Surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, feeding, and menu selection.
- Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
- Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
- Record patient information and required data to meet documentation requirements.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of previous direct care experience (acute or long-term care) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course.
- Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
Schedule
- Shifts available: 6:30 AM–3:00 PM, 2:30 PM–11:00 PM, 10:30 PM–7:00 AM.
- Full-time and part-time positions available.
- Every other weekend and holiday work required per year for full-time and part-time team members.
