Patient Care Tech - RN Nursing Student

Summary

As a Patient Care Tech - Nursing Student, you will provide direct or indirect patient care in accordance with treatment plans as determined/delegated by a licensed nurse. Your ability to assist with tasks necessary for the general management and organization of the patient care unit is crucial in the overall success of the unit and comfort of Rochester Regional patients.

We have immediate opportunities for Nursing Students seeking to work on a Per Diem basis as a Patient Care Technician. This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience at the bedside! Students must be available to complete work shifts during the school year.

Opportunities are available at Rochester General Hospital, Unity Hospital, Newark Wayne Community Hospital, and Clifton Springs Hospital.

Schedule

Minimum 48 hours per quarter with a summer and winter holiday. Day/Evening/Night/Holiday per unit requirement.

Responsibilities

• Patient Care & Service: Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning; provide safe and competent care for patients with relationship to nutritional, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs; take patient vital signs; ensure equipment and all facilities are clean and stocked with appropriate supplies.
• Admission & Transfer of Patients: Assist with admission, discharge and transfer of patients.

Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nursing Program.

Physical Requirements

Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. Any physical requirements reported by a prospective employee and/or employee's physician or delegate will be considered for accommodations.

Pay

$20.00 - $20.00. The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
