PATIENT CARE TECH FOR NURSING STUDENTS

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Educational background: Official completion of high school or equivalent.
• Skills and proficiency: Oral and written grammar, communication, and basic mathematics.
• Technical skills: Support activities in patient care through Vo-Tech program or RN/LPN program.
• Certification: Certified as a Nurse Aide through the Office of Long Term Care or completed nursing skills checklist.
• Experience: One year of PCT experience in an acute care setting, or enrollment in an approved program for RN/LPN Nursing Student Skills Checklist.
• Patient care knowledge: Practices and related activities, hospital policies and procedures, acquired through on-the-job training.
• Non-technical skills: Basic non-technical skills, acquired through on-the-job training.
• Physical requirements: Safety-sensitive position, continuous exposure to biological hazards, frequent exposure to unpleasant fumes and odors, close eye work, hearing within normal and soft tones, distinguish smells, distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity, lifting up to 100 lbs, carrying up to 40 lbs, pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs, frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching.

JOB SUMMARY

Shifts available: Day or Night shifts in 2 North, 2 Main, 3 North, and 3 East areas. Responsibilities include performing assigned patient care activities and assisting licensed nursing personnel under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Manager or designee. Incumbents are subject to overtime and call-backs as required by the facility.
