Patient Care Tech / PCT Post Surgical Med Surg

Responsibilities

• Works in an entry-level position providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing and medical staff.
• Affords assistance to patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, and other ADLs.
• Monitors patients' progress to prepare and distribute reports to the Registered Nurse or other medical staff.
• Collects and records patients' vital signs and gathers specimens for laboratory tests.
• Provides basic patient transport and performs housekeeping duties.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.
• Preferred qualifications include experience in phlebotomy or completion of a phlebotomy course, knowledge of medical terminology, and 1 year of experience in acute or long-term care.
• Working towards approval of Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Patient Care Technician (PCT), or Paramedic (EMT-P) certification.
