Position Purpose

The Patient Care Technician (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, is responsible for direct patient care while considering age‑specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The PCT assists in establishing and maintaining a patient‑care environment that is clean, safe, and conducive to patient and family wellbeing, incorporating concepts of relationship‑based care.

Required Education / Licensure

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of previous direct‑care experience (acute or long‑term) or successful completion of a CENA, PCT, MA, or EMT course
• Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program

What You Will Do

• Complete training provided to prepare for success
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, ambulation using assistive devices, and feeding/menu selection
• Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures
• Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters
• Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements
