Patient Care Tech Ambulatory

About the role

The Patient Care Tech, Ambulatory assists in multiple departments including Pre-op, PACU, Phase Two, Eye Center, and PAT Office. Tasks include retrieving and assembling patient documentation, obtaining medical data, ensuring records accuracy, supporting by answering phones, escorting patients, performing vital signs, assisting with room turnovers, transferring patients, and providing clerical assistance.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate competency in transporting patients and using equipment like recliners and stretchers.
• Answer call lights, escort patients to pre-op units, and provide pre-op instruction/education.
• Perform urine pregnancy tests, blood glucose monitoring, and vital signs.
• Retrieve and document diagnostic lab results and assist with patient histories.
• Assist with room turnovers, transfer patients, and perform aseptic techniques.
• Log OR specimens, perform data entry, and assist with Epidural Steroid Injection procedures.
• Avoid conflict scheduling to enhance turnover times and communicate effectively with scheduling and physicians.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years' current hospital or medical office experience preferred.
• Certificates in medical terminology preferred.
