About the role
Bayhealth Medical Center is Central and Southern Delaware’s healthcare leader, with hospitals in Dover and Milford, stand-alone Emergency Departments in Smyrna and Milton, and various practice settings throughout Kent and Sussex Counties. The Kent Campus is 90 minutes from Philadelphia, Washington, DC, and Baltimore, while the Sussex Campus is 30 minutes from the Delaware beaches.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
- Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
- Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
- Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
- Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
- Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
- Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
- Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
- Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
- Demonstrate standards of excellence, including practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
- Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
- Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
- Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
- All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Requirements
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse (RN) credential.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- NRP within 6 months of hire, if not already obtained.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months (ACLS/PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe).
- Commit to seeking specialty certification within the timeframe indicated during the interview.
- 1-2 years of experience in Women's Services / Postpartum / L&D.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Additional certification related to the position.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
- 3-5 years of experience.

Pay
Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly.
