Patient Care Representative - Cardiovascular Care
About the Role
The Patient Care Rep works under the supervision of leadership, providing a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient information gathering, and patient care in the clinic setting. This role performs front desk duties to support patient care delivery and follow-up.
As part of the Float Pool, this position coordinates patient care on assigned nursing unit(s) daily, covering extended leaves of absence or excessive vacancies. Opportunities may include rotating between units every 2 to 6 weeks, working under the supervision of a Director and Associate Director.
Responsibilities
- Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms.
- Interviews patients and documents responses in the medical record according to standards.
- Maintains examination rooms and equipment.
- Assists providers during physical examinations and certain special procedures as instructed.
- Performs EKGs, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing with appropriate training and competencies.
- Schedules, reschedules, and cancels patient appointments with physicians and nurse practitioners.
- Performs check-in and check-out functions in the clinic.
- Completes patient registration, medical record assignment, and visit creation.
- Communicates with patients regarding appointments, insurance forms, medical releases, and other documentation.
- Prepares release of information and consent forms for patient signature, coordinates requests with other healthcare providers, and ensures receipt of additional information for physicians.
- Requests payment, balances receipts for deposit, prepares deposits, reconciles daily reports, and completes work lists.
- Assists with front office duties as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Required).
- Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant training (Preferred).
- Experience in a physician’s office or healthcare setting (Preferred).
- Computer data entry, customer service, collections, and medical record responsibility experience (Preferred).
- Knowledge of medical terminology (Preferred).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
- Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed.

Essential Technical/Motor Skills
- Fine motor skills, eye/hand coordination, ability to walk, speak clearly, hear phone calls, and perform electronic data entry.
Interpersonal Skills
- Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates professionally with patients, families, physicians, and co-workers.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift.
- Must follow good body mechanics.

- Ability to collect thorough information regarding a patient’s condition and evaluate effects of care.
- Problem-solving, adaptability, data interpretation, calculation, comprehension, explanation, assessment, and evaluation of short- and long-term memory.
Essential Sensory Requirements
- Ability to visually assess patient condition and communicate with patients to evaluate care.
- Requires visual, hearing, tactile, and olfactory senses.
Exposure to Hazards
- Body fluids, needles, cuts, blood products, back injuries, and other medical office-related hazards.
Pay
Starting rate is $16.48 per hour.
