Salary range: $37.98 - $58.87 hourly

About the role

6A is an Acuity Adaptable floor at our Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford, Delaware. Patients on 6A enjoy private rooms, and the unit is very well equipped, clean, and organized. 6A is a 24-bed unit where the acuity ranges from Med Surg to Intermediate Care and receives a variety of patients including Neuro and Neuro-like conditions. The unit has great teamwork, participates in the Nurse Residency Program, and Shared Governance.

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within an assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill are performed using the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures, and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to a specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe, and effective patient care.
• Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff.
• Demonstrate standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork, and integrity.
• Demonstrate understanding and execute quality and performance improvement plans (only for RN evaluation).
• Participate in decision-making and take actions based on ethical principles (only for RN evaluation).
• Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Requirements

• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma
• Registered Nurse credential
• Basic Life Support certification
• ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe
• Commit to seeking specialty certification within the time frame as indicated during the interview

Qualifications

Preferred:

• Experience in relevant specialty
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing
• Certification related to the position, if applicable
