About the role

The Trauma/Surgical Intensive Care Unit, 5 West, is part of the MetroHealth System, which has been dedicated to providing high-quality care since nearly two centuries. The unit is equipped with advanced technology to support patient care, including patient lifts, hands-free communication, virtual whiteboards, and continuous telemetry monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Work with Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, and Providers
• Treatment of trauma and complex surgical cases
• Utilization of mechanical ventilators, high flow oxygen therapy, balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT, mass blood transfusions, IVs, central lines, wound care, and drain care
• Critical thinking skills required

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation)
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or obtain within 6 months of hire

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and professional certification recognized by the Magnet Association.

Skills

• Knowledge of mechanical ventilation and high flow oxygen therapy
• Experience with balloon pumps, Swan-Ganz catheters, CRRT, and mass blood transfusions
• Proficiency in IVs, central lines, wound care, and drain care
• Critical thinking skills

Shifts: 3-11p, 7p-7a, 11p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays
