Patient Care Asst.

About the role

Under the supervision of the Charge Nurse, the Patient Care Assistant will assist in patient care duties. Direct patient care is performed under the direction of a Registered Nurse and within the scope of sound professional nursing practice to be delegated. The PCA will also perform other assigned duties for which they have been specifically trained.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required upon hire or transfer to the department.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required upon hire or transfer to the department.
• Knowledge of some medical and technical terminology and familiarity with hospital policies and procedures.
• Computer training will be completed as part of orientation.

• Ability to perform heavy lifting.
• Sustained standing and walking.
• May encounter exposure to infectious diseases.
• Work under stress.
• Varied work hours and shifts.
