Patient Care Associate-PCA - Medical Telemetry (PT, Nights)

About the role

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. This job profile/title may be updated along the UAP Career ladder to offer the candidate the most appropriate role per their individual experience level if additional qualifications are met. UAP Career Ladder positions include Patient Care Associate‑PCA, Patient Care Technician‑PCT, and Nurse Technician‑NT. Candidate experience will be considered at the offer stage.

Requirements

• Experience: None required; if no prior experience, must complete a 175‑hour state‑approved training program within 90 days of hire.
• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC, or enrollment in a high‑school healthcare career program; must be at least 18 years old and able to participate in Mercy’s UAP training program, or be a current Mercy coworker.
• Certifications: BLS certification required within one month of hire; completion of PCA competencies required within three months of hire.

Qualifications

• Preferred certification: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
