Patient Care Associate-PCA - Med Tele (PT, Nights)

About the Role

Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patient's highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient.

Location: Mercy Hospital Southeast, Cape Girardeau, MO
Department: Medical Telemetry
Status: Part-Time, minimum of 32 hours per 2-week pay period
Shift: 12-Hour Nights (6:30pm - 7:00am)

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D (required)
  • CNA/CPT certification or enrollment in a healthcare career program through high school curriculum (preferred)
  • Current Mercy co-worker (preferred)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (required within one month of hire)
  • Completion of PCA competencies (required within 3 months of hire)
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (preferred)

Experience: None required. If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets state Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.

Physical Requirements

  • Push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Prolonged standing and walking each shift
  • Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties
