About the role

The Patient Care Associate (PCA) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers on a patient care unit, reflecting a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team, consisting of the Registered Nurse and the Patient Care Associate, provides patient care and supportive services aimed at achieving patient care outcomes, enhancing patient engagement in their care plans, improving service levels, and reducing costs.

Responsibilities

- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. - Assist with patient activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, and eating. - Monitor patient vital signs and report changes to the nurse. - Maintain a clean and organized patient environment. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. - Adhere to infection control protocols and safety guidelines. - Participate in ongoing training and skill development.

Requirements

- High school graduate or equivalent education and experience preferred. - Previous patient care experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred. - Strong customer service, organizational, and time management skills. - Successful completion of PCA training course required after hire.
