Responsibilities

  • Uses a systematic process to provide/modify care and patient/family education.
  • Assists health care team with advanced procedure; prepares supplies equipment; provides patient/family support, assists in positioning patients, sets up/or remove equipment etc.
  • Performs a variety of tasks associated with generalized patient care (vital signs, feeding, mobility, IV lines, drainage, personal hygiene: bath, dressing, bed making/linen changes etc.)
  • Utilizes specialized equipment as needed when providing patient care (spirometer, restraints etc.)
  • Cleans clinic area he/she is assigned to after patients treatment is finished at the end of day according to departmental procedures.
  • Takes and picks up food orders for patient's kitchen evaluation.
  • Aids in the discharge process according to JHS policies under supervision.
  • Makes daily rounds of assigned work area and initiates work orders for repair as needed and communicates action to appropriate health care team members.
  • Maintains supplies and equipment for patient floor: inventories, orders, stocks, rotates, charges for both supplies and equipment.
  • Aids in office duties as needed, i.e. answering phone, taking messages.
  • Fulfills duties include but not limited to responding to medical and other emergency and non-emergency calls, assisting the paramedic in providing emergency medical treatment and triage as necessary, and assisting in loading patient and providing transportation of patient to a medical facility.
  • Prepares patient for procedure, sterile equipment and assist procedure under medical team's direction.

Qualifications

  • Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
  • High School diploma is required.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
  • Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the clinical area.
