Responsibilities
- Uses a systematic process to provide/modify care and patient/family education.
- Assists health care team with advanced procedure; prepares supplies equipment; provides patient/family support, assists in positioning patients, sets up/or remove equipment etc.
- Performs a variety of tasks associated with generalized patient care (vital signs, feeding, mobility, IV lines, drainage, personal hygiene: bath, dressing, bed making/linen changes etc.)
- Utilizes specialized equipment as needed when providing patient care (spirometer, restraints etc.)
- Cleans clinic area he/she is assigned to after patients treatment is finished at the end of day according to departmental procedures.
- Takes and picks up food orders for patient's kitchen evaluation.
- Aids in the discharge process according to JHS policies under supervision.
- Makes daily rounds of assigned work area and initiates work orders for repair as needed and communicates action to appropriate health care team members.
- Maintains supplies and equipment for patient floor: inventories, orders, stocks, rotates, charges for both supplies and equipment.
- Aids in office duties as needed, i.e. answering phone, taking messages.
- Fulfills duties include but not limited to responding to medical and other emergency and non-emergency calls, assisting the paramedic in providing emergency medical treatment and triage as necessary, and assisting in loading patient and providing transportation of patient to a medical facility.
- Prepares patient for procedure, sterile equipment and assist procedure under medical team's direction.
Qualifications
- Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
- High School diploma is required.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions.
- Knowledge and skill in use of job appropriate technology and software applications.
- Must meet and maintain current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by the clinical area.
