About the role

The Clinical Staff Nurse at Holtz Women's and Children - Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care. This position involves using the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate care for assigned patients. The role requires adherence to professional standards and the JHS CARE Model.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Utilize the nursing process to document assessments, plan care, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of infection control procedures and recognize significant patient findings.
  • Select and adhere to clinical procedures, protocols, and standards, updating them as necessary.
  • Complete and submit patient charges, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Select and supervise LPN's, CNA's, or MA's as needed, and participate in new staff orientation.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and provide functional direction to support staff.
  • Perform rounds to ensure continuity of care and address unit needs.
  • Apply logical reasoning to solve problems and make decisions.
  • Provide service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise).
  • Follow unit-specific policies and procedures, and utilize job-appropriate technology.

Requirements

  • Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience.
  • NICU Level 3-4 RN experience is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Nursing is required.
  • A BSN degree is preferred.
  • Valid Florida RN license is required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Additional certifications may be required at the unit level.

  • Must have clinical knowledge and skills to complete unit-specific competencies.
  • Must meet and maintain valid and current credentials and certifications.
