About the role

The Patient Care Associate position at NCH is a multi-focused role that offers flexibility to work in various settings. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of care provided.

Responsibilities

• Captures and enters all appropriate nursing orders into PowerChart.
• Prioritizes and communicates patient requests to the appropriate resources.
• Answers patient call lights promptly and notifies the appropriate caregiver.
• Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers, including hospital-to-hospital transfers via ground transport, helicopter, and air ambulance.
• Communicates with physicians, visitors, and ancillary staff, assisting them when possible.
• Performs errands such as obtaining and returning supplies to Central Supply, Lab, Dietary, etc.
• Performs patient transport, correctly identifying the patient.
• Assists with housekeeping duties to maintain cleanliness and order in the OR.
• Complies with safety requirements and reports any issues related to patient care.
• Observes patients and notifies the Registered Nurse (RN) in case of emergencies or changes in the patient's condition, mood, or behavior.
• Completes necessary documentation.
• Restocks supplies in the department as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association required.
• Effective organizational skills and ability to multitask.
• Intermediate computer knowledge: Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
