Patient Care Assistant PRN (DOH/SATC #40762+)
Salary: $18.69 - $28.04 hourly ($38,885 - $58,327 annually). This is a continuous posting to fill multiple vacancies and may close at any time.
About the role
The position assists in the daily monitoring of residents, working closely with clinical, education, and other milieu staff. Duties may include developing life skills, recreation and social activities, and redirecting patient behavior. This role requires working days, evenings, nights, weekends, and/or holidays, including mandatory overtime.
Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma-Informed Care are the cornerstone of treatment at Sequoyah Adolescent Treatment Center. De-escalation techniques and coping mechanisms are offered to residents, and life skills are taught to assist with success upon discharge.
Our facility is a secure environment serving adolescent males aged 13-17 with a history of violence and aggression.
Responsibilities
- Assist in daily monitoring of residents
- Develop and implement life skills, recreation, and social activities
- Redirect patient behavior using de-escalation techniques
- Work collaboratively with clinical, education, and milieu staff
- Apply Crisis Prevention Intervention and Trauma-Informed Care principles
Requirements
- High School Diploma and one (1) year of experience in essential duties of the classification
- Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience totaling one (1) year may substitute for the required experience
- Two (2) years of Direct Care experience preferred
- Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License
- Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results
- Experience in a residential treatment facility, therapeutic milieu, or trauma-informed care environments is ideal
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an adolescent treatment center with exposure to mentally and/or behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable behaviors
- May work in an office setting using related office equipment, including extensive personal computer and phone usage
