We are the only acute inpatient rehabilitation hospital in our region, proudly serving patients throughout our community. Responsibilities
- Performs basic patient care as delegated by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possible blood glucose measurements, and accurate intake/output recording.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating, toileting, ambulation).
- Observes and promptly reports abnormal physical, mental, or emotional findings to nursing staff.
- Maintains clean, safe, and well-stocked patient rooms and common areas.
- Manages the tech desk and supports nursing/physician staff and overall department throughput.
- Documents care and activities per unit standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned; participates in performance improvement and required education.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or equivalent).
- Geriatric experience preferred, particularly from a nursing home or acute care setting.
- PCA/DCA, SRNA, or EMT experience preferred but not required.
- Current BLS certification (can be obtained after hire).
- Handle with Care certification preferred.
- Interest in phlebotomy is a plus; the facility offers phlebotomy training with an additional pay incentive.

About North Alabama Shoals Hospital
North Alabama Shoals Hospital is a 198-bed general acute care facility that boasts spacious, private rooms for all patients, a 24-hour emergency department, medical and oncology services; medical/surgical inpatient units; and intensive care and short-stay surgery units. Shoals also operates the region's only in-patient acute rehabilitation facility, the J. W. Sommer Rehabilitation Unit, and the Shoals Senior Care Center, the Shoals' only psychiatric unit dedicated to our senior adults. The hospital is Joint Commission accredited, a Blue Cross/Blue Shield Tier 2 Hospital, and has received a Blue Distinguished award in hip and knee replacements. This facility employs over 300 individuals and has more than 100 physicians on staff.
