Patient Care Assistant - Day or Night Shift Available

About the role

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) at Nexus Children’s Hospital supports children and adolescents with medical and behavioral health needs. This role requires a compassionate, patient, and passionate individual who can provide direct care, foster a safe environment, and collaborate with healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and supervision for pediatric patients, assisting with ADLs like bathing, dressing, feeding, transfers, and grooming.
• Observe, monitor, and accurately document patients’ behavior, affect, participation, and vital signs.
• Foster a safe, structured, and nurturing environment consistent with trauma-informed care practices.
• Support therapeutic and educational programming, recreational activities, and behavioral interventions.
• Aid in the implementation of individualized care and behavioral support plans under clinical direction.
• Respond to patient crises using approved de-escalation and intervention techniques to ensure safety.
• Collaborate closely with nurses, therapists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, and behavioral specialists to ensure integrated and compassionate care.

Requirements

• De-escalation Training – required within 30 days of hire
• CPR / BLS Certification – required

• Experience working with children or adolescents who have medical or psychiatric needs
• Commitment to 12-hour shifts
• Flexibility to work days, nights, or weekends
• Passion for helping young patients achieve recovery and independence

Pay

$18.50 - $20.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
