Patient Care Assistant

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• Helps patients with basic daily life activities.
• Supports patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding.
• Aids nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.
• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Maintains a safe environment by responding to alarms, call lights, and alerting the correct person.
• Performs unit housekeeping needs and acts as a runner/transporter.
• Updates assigned bed status and performs comfort rounds.
• Reports changes in patient’s status promptly to RN.
• Assists in the admission, transfer, and discharge process.
• Checks and documents refrigerator temperatures as delegated.
• Keeps patient environment clean and reports safety issues and broken equipment appropriately.

Job Requirements

• Required High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year direct patient care experience.
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification, upon hire.
