Patient Care Assistant - 7 N Tele - Full Time 12 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Union)

About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff in delivering patient care, performing clerical tasks, and maintaining a clean, organized unit environment. This role requires a combination of direct patient care, administrative duties, and safety oversight.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient calls within 10 minutes and anticipates patient needs.
• Makes rounds to reduce patient calls and maintains positive interactions with patients and visitors.
• Provides necessary data to the RN and collaborates in implementing the patient's plan of care.
• Performs essential skills to ensure patient safety and comfort.
• Documents all care provided, including vital signs, intake and output, and patient care.
• Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and other healthcare providers.
• Maintains a safe and organized unit environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
• Participates in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the Department of Public Health (DPH).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training certification from the Los Angeles City Fire Department.
