About the role

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) supports nursing staff in delivering patient care, performing clerical tasks, maintaining the unit environment, and managing equipment. The role emphasizes patient satisfaction, safety, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Responds to patient calls within 10 minutes and anticipates patient needs.
• Makes rounds to reduce patient calls and maintains positive interactions with patients and visitors.
• Smiles and is pleasant during all interactions, providing necessary data and implementing interventions based on the patient's plan of care.
• Performs essential skills to ensure positive patient outcomes, including daily vital signs, weight, and hygiene tasks.
• Ambulates patients, changes linens, and provides appropriate care.
• Ensures a safe environment by checking floors, walkways, and equipment.
• Documents all care provided accurately and promptly using computerized systems.
• Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and other healthcare professionals.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduate from an accredited Certified Nursing Program.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CA DPH) certification (grandfathered for those hired/transferred before 8/2016).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification from the American Heart Association.
• Fire Life Safety Training certification (LA City).
• One must obtain a Fire Life Safety Training certification within 30 days of hire and maintain it by renewal before expiration.
