Patient Acess Specialist

About the role

As Patient Access Specialist at UVA Prince William Medical Center, you play a critical role in ensuring patients receive seamless, compassionate entry into care across a complex and high-performing academic medical system.

Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration, insurance verification, and demographic updates with a high level of accuracy
• Communicate directly with patients and families, providing clear guidance on processes, expectations, and next steps
• Collaborate with clinical teams, providers, and fellow access staff to resolve complex scheduling or registration challenges
• Maintain composure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment while prioritizing both patient care and compliance standards

Requirements

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive) and repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs.

Pay

The starting Pay for this position is $17.50/hr. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
