Patient Account Registrar, Outpatient Registration

About the Role

Central Maine Healthcare (CMH), a member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, is an integrated healthcare delivery system serving approximately 400,000 residents across central, western, and mid-coast Maine. The system includes Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, a 250-bed regional referral hospital, along with Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, two critical access hospitals providing essential care to rural communities. CMH is also home to the Maine College of Health Professions, contributing to healthcare education and workforce development.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients or their representatives to obtain patient demographics.
• Secure insurance information, eligibility, benefits, and authorizations as applicable.
• Collaborate with all facets of the Admitting department, including PBX operator functions and reception areas.
• Operate a computer to input and retrieve data.
• Communicate effectively with diverse populations, utilizing age-specific techniques from neonatal to geriatric care.
• Maintain proficiency in medical terminology.
• Complete special projects or other assignments within specified timeframes.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED equivalent (required for all new hires effective 4/1/14).
• Previous hospital experience as an admissions representative (preferred).
• Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs, and meet required timelines.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Customer service experience (required).

Pay

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $20.00 to $23.75 per hour. The exact starting compensation will be determined based on factors such as skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Schedule

Full Time, 40 Hours per week, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM.
