Patient Access Specialist/ Transport Technician - GRANT

Patient Access Specialist

• Schedules patients for check-in and check-out using the scheduling software.
• Reviews, updates, and maintains all patient data in multiple patient accounting and registration systems by initiating the completion of forms required for billing and admitting processes.
• Works with the designated software systems in order to register and assist the providers and financial processes.
• Serves patients and visitors by welcoming and greeting them in person and/or on the telephone, answering inquiries and delivering messages to appropriate personnel.
• Interviews patients to obtain pertinent patient registration information, assures document scanning, retrieving, and editing and patient identification to determine patient's insurance coverage, limitations and communicates to patient any co-pays or deductibles.
• Identifies patient's potential financial liability for a specific service and identifies patients at risk for inability to meet financial liability. Makes referral to an appropriate agency/person.
• Provides an overview of options available to patients/families by assessing patient understanding of Patient Registration process to determine appropriate response to patient’s questions and applications and communicates appropriate information needed to complete patient’s eligibility process.
• Performs income screening for Patient Benefits Coordination, collects available data and provides a referral when necessary.
• Aids patients in completing and updating forms required for medical records, third party insurer, and the facility.
• Provides information on patient rights and resource benefits and tactfully advises patient of non-payment or denial of claims. If denials or other rejection of alternate resources occur, incumbent will intervene on patient’s behalf by contacting and verifying coverage through third party resource.
• Assembles patient charts after the interview is completed, intake and coordinate data from all visits encountered during the shift.

Transport Technician

• Handles the controls for starting, stopping, backing, and driving a mobile medical unit; aware of the height, width, length, and weight of the unit and judges overhead and side clearances, turning radius, braking distance, and the safest distance to be maintained from a preceding vehicle.
• Recognizes hazardous conditions and change routes to avoid them; assists in loading and unloading supplies, cargo, etc., and considers how to store and stock supplies to prevent shifting.
• Reports accidents or other safety situations to appropriate personnel.
• Inspects exterior and interior of vehicle at beginning of each shift for properly operating headlights, turn signals, brake lights, air-conditioning or heating, warning lamps, mirror adjustment, properly inflated tires, windshield wipers, vehicle damage, etc., prior to moving vehicle.
• Responsible for ensuring inside and outside of vehicle are properly cleaned and vehicle is adequately fueled on an ongoing basis.
• Upon relocation at a new site, makes all electrical and plumbing connections and ensures equipment is operable as required by law & policy.
• Completes all donning and doffing tasks in a safe acceptable method and discard of used PPE accordingly.
• Completes task training for all routine cleaning and decontamination processes for all surfaces contaminated by a communicable disease to ensure a high level of patient, visitor, employee, and external customer satisfaction.
