About the Role

As a Patient Access Specialist, you will be at the center of the patient experience, serving as a trusted resource for registration, insurance verification, and patient access services across several outpatient areas. This is a fast-paced, patient-facing role that requires strong communication skills, flexibility, and a commitment to accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients and completing registration and check-in processes.
  • Verifying demographic information, insurance coverage, and required documentation.
  • Collecting patient signatures and ensuring registration records are complete and accurate.
  • Assisting patients with financial assistance resources and helping eligible individuals navigate application processes.
  • Supporting scheduled appointments as well as walk-in services including laboratory visits, imaging, EKGs, and other outpatient services.
  • Responding to departmental communications, workflow updates, and system changes.
  • Collaborating with teammates and clinical departments to ensure patients move efficiently through the care process.
  • Floating between multiple outpatient registration areas including MRI, Surgical Services, Main Radiology, Health Center, and other registration locations as operational needs evolve.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent
  • Experience: Preferred not required
  • Licensure: None required

Physical Demands

  • Sitting for prolonged periods
  • Frequently bending/stooping
  • Reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive)
  • Repetitive motion: computer keyboard
  • Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to write legibly
  • Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs

Pay

The pay range for this role is $17.50 - $27.85 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
