About the role

This is an entry-level, part-time, onsite role at Ardent - UT Health Pittsburg in Pittsburg, TX. The Patient Access Specialist performs admitting duties for all patients, ensuring compliance with organizational mission, goals, and regulatory requirements while delivering excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate Medical Record Numbers (MRNs) and complete medical necessity/compliance checks.
  • Provide proper patient instructions, collect insurance information, and process physician orders.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls with excellent customer service.
  • Adhere to point-of-service collection goals and utilize quality auditing/reporting systems to correct accounts.
  • Conduct audits of accounts to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with audit standards.
  • Pre-register patient accounts, including inbound/outbound calls to obtain demographic, insurance, and financial information.
  • Collect point-of-service payments and past-due balances, including setting up payment plans.
  • Explain and obtain signatures for general consent for treatment forms and other patient education documents (e.g., Important Message from Medicare, MOON form, ABN).
  • Review insurance eligibility responses and enter benefit data to support billing processes and clean claim rates.
  • Screen for medical necessity using Advanced Beneficiary Notice (ABN) software and distribute forms as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (required).
  • CRCR certification (required within 9 months of hire; company-paid).
  • 1+ years of customer service experience.
  • Inquisitive mindset with openness to innovation, including AI-driven process improvements.

Pay

$17.00 - $18.15/hour, based on experience.
