Patient Access Specialist I (Admitting, Kissimmee)
About the role
The Patient Access Specialist I position at Nemours Children's Health in Kissimmese, Florida is a full-time role. Nemours Children’s Hospital is part of the Nemours integrated healthcare system and provides specialized pediatric care, including a 24-hour emergency department and outpatient clinics.
Responsibilities
- Provide exemplary service in accordance with Nemours Standards of Behaviors and perform registration functions accurately.
- Timely verify insurance benefits and determine financial responsibility by creating a good faith estimate when applicable.
- Verify and update demographics, insurance information, PCP, or referral physician, and secure the required forms to ensure compliance with regulatory and NCH policies.
- Register bedside admissions using the workstation on wheels or downtime process when necessary, and perform pre-registration workflow when assigned.
- Understand and adhere to HIPAA privacy rules, using discretion when discussing patient-related information.
- Resolve patient accounts subject to departmental standards, including clearing workqueues, as assigned, to ensure accuracy.
- Practice and display Nemours' Standards of Behavior while adhering to all rules and regulations of applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
- Maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners to ensure continual open communication between departments.
- Complete all mandatory training and education in a timely manner, participate in huddles and/or department meetings as scheduled.
- Monitor time and attendance to limit use of unauthorized overtime.
- Perform cross-cover registration functions to support the Patient Financial Services department as needed.
- Participate in cross-training with the Emergency Room.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required.
- Healthcare experience and customer service experience preferred.
- Medical Office/Call Center experience.
- Travel to other locations required.
