Patient Access Specialist I

About the role

The Patient Access Specialist I supports the patient intake process, ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate registration, and a seamless, high-quality patient experience. Key responsibilities include:

• Verifying demographics and registering patients in Epic
• Obtaining and verifying insurance coverage
• Scheduling patient appointments
• Promoting MyChart activation
• Scheduling for special projects as assigned

Responsibilities

Manage administrative duties related to the patient intake process, adhering to established guidelines and procedures. Serve as a key point of contact for patients, interacting with them in person and by phone to support check-in and check-out processes, while scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling appointments in alignment with provider guidelines and availability.

Requirements

One year of customer service work experience is required. Healthcare environment experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

Maintain a working knowledge of insurance processes, billing practices, and medical terminology, and effectively navigate Epic systems, including scheduling and registration tools. Manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, along with clear communication and effective collaboration with patients, providers, and care teams.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, exceptional patient-centered customer service, and the ability to manage multiple tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Pay

The posted compensation range of $23.90 - $34.79 /hour is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay CommonSpirit in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting.

Schedule

Flexible work schedule with excellent opportunity for growth. Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6:00pm with occasional weekends required.
