About the Role
Supports patient intake and registration, serving as a primary contact to ensure accurate scheduling, insurance verification, registration, and financial clearance while providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients in person and over the phone
- Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments
- Register patients and maintain accurate demographic data
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, referrals, and authorizations
- Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
- Explain financial responsibilities and payment options
- Obtain consent and privacy documentation
- Coordinate with healthcare providers and insurance companies
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
- Utilize electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner
Requirements
- 1-2 years of healthcare registration, scheduling, or customer service experience
- Attention to detail and data accuracy
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Knowledge of insurance verification and medical terminology
- High school diploma or GED; insurance verification experience required
- Healthcare certification or associate degree preferred
