Patient Access Services Registration Representative Imaging

About the role
This position conducts customer service, registration, point of service collections, and may validate or obtain authorizations from payers to maximize reimbursement. You will provide a customer-oriented interaction with each patient, obtain all required consents, document the registration process, load correct payer(s) to each account, and meet accuracy goals. You will also collect payments, meet collection targets, and may perform financial counseling when appropriate.
Responsibilities
- Provide a positive customer experience by welcoming patients, introducing yourself, explaining processes, and thanking them for choosing Banner Health.
- Perform pre-registration and registration processes, verify eligibility, and obtain authorizations for services.
- Verify patient demographics and accurately input information into the A/D/T system to maximize reimbursement and minimize denials.
- Obtain federally and state-required information, consents, and documentation required by insurance plans.
- Consistently meet monthly individual accuracy and collection targets as determined by management.
- Verify insurance benefits and collect patient responsibility based on estimates at the time of service or during pre-registration.
- Provide financial counseling to patients and their families, explaining company financial policies and assisting with applications for Medicaid or financial assistance programs.
- Act as a liaison between patients, billing departments, vendors, physician offices, and payors to resolve outstanding issues and enhance account receivables performance.
- Communicate with physicians, clinical staff, nursing, and Health Information Management Services to resolve patient concerns.
- Consistently meet monthly individual productivity goals and complete daily assignments accurately.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and provide teamwork support.
- Perform various patient and financial services tasks, such as transporting patients, precepting new hires, recapping daily deposits, or posting daily deposits.
- Work independently in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with high volume and immediacy needs, requiring sound judgment to prioritize work.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Knowledge of patient financial services, financial, collecting services, or insurance industry processes, typically acquired over one or more years of work experience.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision and work independently.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills to interact effectively with a wide range of audiences.
- Proficiency in common office software, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Employees working in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of their employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- CHAA certification.
- Work experience with Banner Health’s systems and processes.
- Previous cash collections experience.
