About the role
You will serve as an important member of a close-knit rural healthcare team. This unique position combines traditional patient access responsibilities with light clinical support duties, helping ensure patients receive a seamless experience from check-in through their appointment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional, welcoming, and compassionate manner.
- Register patients and accurately collect demographic, insurance, and financial information.
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and follow-up visits.
- Verify insurance eligibility and assist with obtaining necessary information for patient visits.
- Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with scheduling, registration, and general inquiries.
- Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record.
- Collect patient payments and assist with basic administrative functions as needed.
- Provide support to clinical staff by preparing exam rooms and ensuring supplies are stocked and readily available.
- Aid in obtaining and documenting vital signs, patient histories, and other basic clinical information as directed and within training requirements.
- Cook up communication between patients, providers, and care teams to ensure efficient clinic workflow.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and organizational policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Previous customer service, healthcare, medical office, administrative, CNA, PCA, Medical Assistant, or related experience is preferred.
- CPR certification is preferred or can be obtained after hire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
- The ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities throughout the day is crucial.
- Comfort working in both administrative and patient-facing clinical support activities is important.
- Basic computer and data entry skills are required.
- Experience with electronic medical records is preferred.
- A commitment to providing exceptional patient service and compassionate care is expected.
