Patient Access Representative | Tower Road Clinic | 40hrs/week

About the role

Join the Sanford Patient Access Family at Sanford Health Tower in Rapid City, SD. As a Patient Access Representative you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing extraordinary customer service in‑person or by phone and creating a welcoming, safe environment.

Responsibilities

• Registration: Greet patients and verify demographics; create, scan, and route documents or electronic forms; inform patients about documents and capture signatures; establish and assign financial responsibility and assist with arrangements while adhering to policies; collect co‑payments, pre‑payments, and payments on account balances; work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims.
• Scheduling: Work with nursing teams and providers to coordinate and schedule appointments that meet patient needs; obtain and coordinate referrals and conduct pre‑authorizations; arrange interpreter services; check patients in and out; operate a multi‑line phone system; resolve work‑queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, and serve as switchboard operator, calling codes and paging providers.
• Additional Duties: Prepare and coordinate charts; organize supporting provider documents; initiate and collaborate on patient financial assistance; track patient visits and health‑information management on patient accounts; compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments; coordinate tele‑medicine appointments; make reminder calls for appointments; assist with hospital admissions; perform office duties such as making copies or sending faxes.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; post‑secondary education helpful.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Medical terminology knowledge helpful; strong customer service skills essential.
• Six months of customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS certification for certain locations or settings.

Pay

Salary range: $16.25 – $23.00 per hour.

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Day shift: 8‑hour shifts, Monday through Friday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
