We are currently seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide high-quality service to Wake County Public Health Clinic clients.

About the role

This position assists patients with onsite customer service functions, ensures all necessary documents are provided, activates patients in the EMR system, collects payments, and obtains demographic and financial information—all working together to meet the goals of the work area. The Patient Access Representative serves as the public’s first point of contact for the Health Clinics.

Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of clinics within Public Health
  • Respond to inquiries from both internal and external customers
  • Gather intake or service request information
  • Register patients for services, schedule appointments, and provide necessary information
  • Receive monies, enter customer information into databases, and provide receipts if appropriate
  • Balance cash drawers
  • Insurance and income verification

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a medical office or Public Health

Skills

  • Excellent listening and organization skills; ability to multi-task
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external management
  • Use excellent customer service skills to work through issues raised by key stakeholders
  • Assist in resolving concerns as appropriate

Pay

Hiring range: $25.70–$28.83 per hour.

Schedule

28 hours per week in Central Registration (hours vary).

Location

Public Health Building, Raleigh, NC 27602.
