Job Summary
Affords assistance in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, and pre-certification. Serves as a clinical liaison with physician practices, engaging in pre-visit services.
Pre-registers/Registers Patients
- Accurately captures patient demographic and financial data.
- Utilizes various registration methods, including mobile carts.
Collects Patient Balances
- Collects patient balances, co-payments, co-insurance, or other payment types.
- Verifies coverage and ensures all insurance requirements are met.
- Obtains prior authorizations and referrals as necessary before patient arrival.
Responds to Customer Inquiries
- Addresses customer concerns and queries.
- Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
Manages Daily Appointment Schedules
- Coordinates and manages daily appointment schedules.
- Initiates reminder calls and contacts all referrals.
- Maintains daily schedules using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
Other Duties
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
- At least 1 year of medical office or related customer service experience, required.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding, preferred.
- Experience with insurance processes and regulations, preferred.
- Effective conflict management and professional communication skills.
- Exceptional time management and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
Department / Location Specific Notes
Care Delivery Area and Outpatient Clinics: A strong background in customer service may be considered in lieu of medical office or related experience.
Working Conditions
- Operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Sedentary work.
- Primarily operates in an office environment.
- Communicates and exchanges accurate information.
- Close visual acuity required for preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.
