Patient Access Representative Lead - Birth Place/Labor & Delivery
Position Summary
The Patient Access Authorization Lead directly impacts the revenue cycle by accurately processing data relating to insurance, authorization, and demographic information following unit-specific policies. They assess surgical and diagnostic patient information to ensure systematic availability across the hospital. The Lead meets established quality and productivity standards, interacts professionally with medical staff, and assists in reducing authorization denials. They also collaborate with the surgical HUB to align specific procedure codes with the authorization process.
Education, Training, Experience, Certification & Licensure
- Two years of medical office or customer service experience
- Participates in orientation, patient access training program, and continuing education
- Updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise
Special Equipment, Skills Or Other Requirements
- Word processing skills required
- PC experience
- Basic mathematical skills
- Effective verbal and written communication and human relations skills
- Related experience in hospital registration, Eclipsys, or PHS/HPF, and knowledge of medical terminology preferred
Work Environment and Hazards
Clinical Setting. Exposure Class I or II; service specific.
Physical Demands
Sedentary work: standing, walking, and sitting for prolonged periods; repetitive motion of hands, fingers, and wrists.

Pay Range
$19.64-27.85 Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
