About the Role
Registers all patients for medical services as ordered by their physician. Provides professional, accurate, and timely service within all Admitting functions.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to multitask, provide attention to detail, and complete accurate data entry in a fast-paced environment with multiple distractions.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills in a manner that promotes goodwill, is timely, efficient, and accurate.
- Work with patients and/or family members who may be experiencing a range of emotions.
- Serve as a patient representative during the registration/interview process.
- Select the correct insurance plan, send and review eligibility responses.
- Understand Medicare and Medicaid requirements.
- Accurately select the correct patient and assign an encounter number.
- Work in multiple computer programs as required.
- Assist professional staff and with special projects as needed.
- Perform other clerical or support duties as needed.
- Collect co-pays and deductibles from patients.
- Back up Financial Counseling staff to take payments, provide financial assistance information, and complete presumptive eligibility.
- Understand all downtime processes.
- Collect and document valuables and medications from patients to be placed in the safe when no family members are available.
- Attend required meetings, training, and online trainings as assigned.
- Utilize available resources effectively.
- Support the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
- Support Value Improvement Practice (VIP-Lean) principles of continuous improvement.
- Provide and maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests.
- Conduct all activities with the highest standards of professionalism and confidentiality.
- Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, supporting the organization’s corporate integrity efforts.
- Deliver customer service and/or patient care in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner.
- Perform additional duties of similar complexity as required or assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED (required).
- College courses in medical terminology (preferred).
- General/medical office practice experience (preferred).
- Previous PC/Windows experience (required).
- One year of customer service experience (preferred).
- Collection and data entry experience (preferred).
