Patient Access Representative

About the Role

The Patient Access Representative II coordinates front-end patient registration activities, including pre-registration and discharge processes. Responsibilities include verifying insurance coverage, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and accurately completing patient registrations. The role involves contacting patients for appointment confirmation, collecting financial liabilities, and referring uninsured patients to financial counseling. Additional duties include assisting patients with insurance questions, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting hospital financial policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate front-end patient registration, pre-registration, and discharge processes.
• Verify insurance coverage and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
• Accurately complete patient registrations and data entry.
• Contact patients for appointment confirmation and collect financial liabilities.
• Refer uninsured patients to financial counseling.
• Assist patients with insurance-related questions and maintain confidentiality.
• Support hospital financial policies and handle high patient volumes.
• Scan and verify documentation, schedule follow-up appointments, and ensure accuracy.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of healthcare or customer service experience.
• Knowledge of payers and insurance procedures.
• Typing skills and familiarity with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, EMTALA).
• Preferred certification as a Healthcare Access Associate.
