Patient Access Representative - 24 hr

About the role

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for pre-registration, registration and admission functions in the Emergency Department at Saint Mary's Hospital.

Orientation/training is 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m., Monday–Friday for 2 weeks and may include time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center.

Responsibilities

• Perform complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions
• Verify insurance requirements, obtain and understand insurance benefits
• Secure signatures and all other key information needed to complete billing and collection functions
• Collect or arrange for co-insurance and/or other deposit payment amounts
• Refer self-pay patients to financial counselors; answer patient questions

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (college preferred)
• Medical terminology skills
• Relevant medical office, hospital/physician billing or patient registration experience preferred
• Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Schedule

• Part time, 24 hours per week: 7 a.m.–3:30 p.m., including every other weekend and holiday
• May involve rotating into other shifts
• Shift, weekend and holiday differentials apply
