About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Reporting to the Registration Team Lead, you'll greet patients and guests, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth patient registration and admission processes. Your role will involve collecting accurate patient information, verifying insurance details, and ensuring patient satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
  • Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
  • Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
  • Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
  • Demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships, and resolve conflicts professionally.
  • Adapt to different patient populations, ensuring privacy and clear communication.
  • Other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in a front-line registration or revenue cycle role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with an Associate’s Degree being a plus.
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software relevant to the role.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle high-stress situations and maintain professionalism.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.
  • Knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits, referral and authorization processes, and familiarity with Federal, State, and Local billing regulations.

Qualifications

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and information retrieval.
  • Must be proficient with various software packages specific to the role.
  • Must have clerical skills and exhibit technical knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits.
  • Must demonstrate respect and cooperation in all staff relationships.
  • Must have the ability to exercise sound judgment in handling/escalating difficult situations.
