Patient Access Rep (Per Diem) - Covington Cardiovascular

Summary

The Patient Access Representatives are primarily responsible for completing an efficient and organized check‑in/out for patients, ensuring throughput and customer service are top priorities. They schedule appointments, verify insurance during registration, collect accurate patient information while maintaining confidentiality per HIPAA regulations, answer multi‑line phones, collect copayments and patient balances, and scan or file documents into the Medical Record as needed.

Responsibilities

• Complete efficient and organized patient check‑in/out.
• Maintain high throughput and excellent customer service.
• Schedule appointments and verify insurance during registration.
• Collect accurate patient information while ensuring HIPAA confidentiality.
• Answer multi‑line phones and direct calls courteously.
• Collect copayments and patient balances.
• Scan or file documents into the Medical Record as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to operate a computer, copier, and fax machine.
• Good communication skills and a great deal of patience.
• Medical office experience preferred.
• Familiarity with medical terminology.
• Willingness to learn all aspects of the office and be a team player.
• Ability to work well with others in a very busy environment.
• Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Proof of enrollment in or completion of a post‑secondary or vocational program.

Physical Demands

• Good physical health; ability to stand, sit, or walk for long periods.
• Lift at least 10 pounds.
• Work with a moderate level of noise.
• Physical effort: constant (67 %–100 %) – reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing; occasional (1 %–33 %) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching.

Schedule

• Monday – Thursday: 8 am – 5 pm
• Friday: 8 am – 3 pm
• Weekly hours: TBD
