Patient Access Rep- OUHC ENT Clinic- Full Time

About the role

We're seeking a dynamic and compassionate individual to join our team as a Patient Service Representative. Your primary responsibility will be to greet patients and guests, initiate scheduling, and ensure smooth check-in processes. You'll also handle financial transactions and provide clear explanations of insurance benefits.

Responsibilities

• Create, activate, and complete the patient scheduling, clinic registration, or hospital admission process.
• Gather and input patient/guarantor demographic and financial information accurately.
• Explain insurance benefits and collect co-pays, deductibles, and self-pay portions due.
• Perform financial analysis and inform patients of their financial responsibility.
• Balance cash drawer daily, prepare deposit slips, and follow closing cash drawer process.
• Demonstrate excellent customer service and maintain professional behavior.
• Adapt to different patient populations and communicate effectively.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
• Certification in Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM), Certification in Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA), or Certification as a Medical Assistant (or other medical specialty-based certification) preferred.
• Proficiency with Windows-style applications and software specific to the role.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other departments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree preferred.

Skills

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer skills and dexterity for data entry and information retrieval.
• Strong clerical skills and knowledge of healthcare insurance benefits.
• Ability to solve practical problems and handle high-stress situations.
• Excellent decision-making and analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.
